Editorial: A Serious notice must be taken on Forced Disappearances

From Sindh and Balochistan to whole Asia, and even far in the whole world is affected of religious extremism that is backed up Pakistan. Pakistan is known as a fundamentalist country across the world. Apart from this religious extremism, Pakistani State Institutions are doing continuous injustice with the people of Sindh and Balochistan, but so called International World of Justice is not willing to know their tyrannical and miserable condition.

A forced disappearance of people in Pakistan is serious and hot issue. Especially political activists of Sindh and Balochistan have been forcedly disappeared since many decades.

Supreme Court of Pakistan has confessed that these disappeared people are captive in the cells of ISI, MI, FC and other secret agencies of Pakistan. Even after that, their redemption has not come into action.

Since years there is continuous protest in Sindh and Balochistan against these forced disappearances, but Pakistani media is also ignoring them continuously.  Here in Sindh the relatives of disappeared person are doing protest since 2004. The woeful story of Balochistan is even older. But here media spokesmen and other state institutions are keeping a blind eye on issue.

The irony of situation is that, the sad story of disappeared person has reached to the international community by any means, but civil society and other human rights associations in Pakistan have always remained ignorant to the tyranny. And more importantly they try to hide the issue from International forums of human rights.

Here media, journalists and other so called human rights organizations have always propagated the issue of drone attacks, but they have never talked about forcedly disappeared activists of Sindh and Balochistan. Inherits of disappeared people after being disappointed by local media and human rights organizations, appeal to the international community, and are labeled as agents of America and India by so called intellectuals and media spokesman of this country.

After recording the protest of 1300 days, The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons has now started a long march from Quetta to Karachi. But alas! Even after such long struggle, nobody is willing to hear their case. What will be the result of such ignorance?

Whatever would be the results of the ignorance of media and other state institutions, but they will definitely be enough to destroy the basics of this country. When a person’s own children and elders are not protected, how could he feel for the protection of others children and elders? When a person’s children are killed, possibly tomorrow he will kill children of others. Whose children are disappeared, tomorrow they will try to kidnap the culprits in reaction as well.

Before that concerned people like media, intellectuals, civil society and other institutions of this country must show concern on these protests. If these issues will not be addressed as soon as possible, then a great human tragedy might get birth in this region of Asia. That tragedy would be worse than the famine in Africa and the attacks of chemical weapons on Syria.
