Whole Sindh observed wheel jam and shutter down strike on the call of Jeay Sindh Mutahida Mahaz (JSMM) against the Pakistan Protection Ordinance on Wednesday. This strike was first reaction of any organization against this law. BBC Urdu reported.
The strike paralysed the routine life across Sindh. The government and private schools and business activities were closed. The Sindh University and Liaquat Medical University postponed their scheduled examinations. Train service also suspended for several hours in Sindh on Tuesday night.
Earlier on Tuesday, more than 95 serial cracker blasts took place in Karachi, Hyderabad, Kotri, Nawabshah, Larkana, Dadu, Naushero Feroze, Larkana, Khairpur and other cities of Sindh, that killed one person and two injured in Hyderabad, while several vehicles were also torched in different parts of Sindh.
JSMM Officials said at least 102 people associated with the group have been arrested in different towns of Sindh, more than 12 went missing.

On other hand law enforcement agencies raided JSMM’s senior vice Chairman Lala Aslam Pathan, vice chairman Dr. Zain Bhutto, general secretary Sajjad Shar, deputy secretary Shabir Mallah, finance secretary Zulfiqar Jamal, JSMM leaders Sattar Kalhoro, Sahib Khan Ghutto, Fiaz Dahari, Ishaq Bhurgari, Hamid Bhutto, Riaz Kakepoto, Darya Khan Malookhani, Nawab Mahar, Imran Leghari, Sana Bhatti, Raza Gabol, Martyred Siari Qurban Khahawar and Jabar Jhatial they also raided University of Sindh, Jamshoro Pawar House Colony.
Meanwhile, On Tuesday 29, Huge-sized front page newspaper advertisements were published in all major Sindhi language newspapers, having an appeal from JSMM chairman Shafi Burfat, asking Sindhi and Urdu speaking citizens of Sindh to fully participate in the strike and register their protest against PPO 2013.
“The government of Pakistan, through such black laws is planning a genocide of the people living in Sindh and want to crush the nationalist movement of Sindh,” stated the advertisement written in Sindhi and English languages.
In the English section of the advertisement, Burfat addressed the international community and said laws like PPO 2013 were death warrants for the innocent and suppressed Sindhis and Baloch – a plan of mass genocide of both the communities.
