Veteran Sindhi nationalist, the Chairman of the Sindh National Movement (SNM), Ali Hassan Chandio, passed away after a brief illness at a private hospital on Wednesday.
[Online/Ghotki]: Ali Hassan Chandio, a Sindhi nationalist, and Chairman of the Sindh National Movement (SNM), passed away after a prolonged illness at the South City Hospital on Wednesday night. He was suffering from kidney problems coupled with diabetes.
In 2011 Chandio started his own Sindh National Movement (SNM) in Karachi. He authored books in the Sindhi language on the demography and ethnic politics of Karachi.
He wrote his autobiography titled, ‘Munhjo Siasi Safar’ (My Political Journey) and also authored a book “Paharan dy Pandh” analyzing the ongoing nationalist movements in Sindh and Balochistan.
In a statement, JSMM’s Chairman Mr. Shafi Muhammad Burfat expressed solidarity with his family, friends, and workers of SNM. “ Late Ali Hassan have accomplished his duty to mother Sindh, and now it is our responsibility to take his mission to its logical end,” Said JSMM Chairman.
He further said that Ali Hassan was a great politician, he laid his entire life struggling for the freedom of Sindh. “He was also an ideological icon in the political landscape of Sindh” he added
